Print the tax file (for preparers who work on paper)

Some preparers want the file on their desk, not on a screen. Once the workbook is built, open the engagement and choose Print the tax file next to Download the workbook. You get one PDF to print:

  1. Cover sheet: the client, the estimated refund or balance due with last year beside it, the taxpayer facts from the workbook cover, the open items still outstanding, and any flagged determinations.
  2. Basis of Preparation: how the file was made (you acknowledge it once, as for the workbook).
  3. Expected result: the summary and the two-year comparison.
  4. Index: every document with its number and page.
  5. The documents, in your folder order (Administrative first, then income, deductions and schedules), behind numbered divider pages. Every page carries its index number and "page n of N", so a dropped stack goes back together.

With the full workbook adds every workbook tab at the end. Large files take a minute to put together. The estimate is provisional: it depends on the open items, and the preparer makes every determination.
